Spread the News with People

On a quiet Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, the serene stretch of State Route 73 near Mile Post 6 in Union Township, Clinton County, Ohio, became the scene of a devastating three-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a beloved Maineville woman and left a young driver fighting for his life. The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is now piecing together the events that led to this heart-wrenching tragedy, as a community mourns and questions linger about what went wrong.

At approximately 11:02 a.m., the fateful crash unfolded with shattering consequences. A 1998 Dodge Ram, driven by 19-year-old Anton Laskowski III of Indiana, was traveling westbound along the winding rural highway. For reasons yet to be fully determined, Laskowski failed to navigate a curve in the road. His truck veered out of control, crossing the double-yellow centerline and hurtling into the path of oncoming traffic. In an instant, the Dodge Ram collided head-on with a 2023 Buick Enclave driven by 56-year-old Lisa Bush, a Maineville resident whose life was tragically cut short.

The impact was catastrophic, sending debris scattering across the roadway like shrapnel. Behind Laskowski, a 2021 Ford F-250 driven by 76-year-old David Roeper of Florida was caught in the aftermath. Unable to avoid the wreckage, Roeper’s truck struck debris from the initial collision, leaving his vehicle disabled at the scene. Miraculously, Roeper emerged unscathed, a lone stroke of fortune in an otherwise grim tableau.

Emergency responders from Wilmington Fire and EMS rushed to the scene, their sirens piercing the mid-morning air. Despite their swift efforts, Lisa Bush could not be saved. EMS personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene, a somber moment that cast a pall over the gathered responders. Meanwhile, Anton Laskowski, gravely injured in the crash, was airlifted by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital, where he remains in serious condition, battling the physical toll of the collision.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, supported by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Clinton County Coroner’s Office, worked tirelessly to secure the scene and begin the painstaking process of investigation. The mangled vehicles, strewn debris, and the quiet grief of those present painted a stark picture of loss and survival.

As the investigation continues, authorities have yet to release details about potential contributing factors. Was speed a factor? Could impairment have played a role? Or was it simply a momentary lapse in attention on a deceptively treacherous curve? These questions hang heavy as the Wilmington Post delves deeper, determined to uncover the truth behind this tragedy.

For now, Union Township mourns the loss of Lisa Bush, a woman whose life was extinguished in a fleeting moment on a rural Ohio road. The crash serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictable dangers that lurk on even the most familiar routes. As the community grapples with grief, the Ohio State Highway Patrol presses forward, seeking answers to bring closure to those affected by this heartbreaking event.
