Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A male victim was critically wounded after a shooting and vehicle crash near Broad Street and Packer Avenue in South Philadelphia on Wednesday evening. The incident created a chaotic scene as authorities responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area.

Philadelphia Police Department’s 3rd District officers arrived to find a serious vehicle crash and a man suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest inside one of the vehicles. Emergency responders from Philadelphia Fire Department Medic 11 treated him at the scene before transporting him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he remains in extremely critical condition and unresponsive.

A second male victim was discovered a short distance away after witnesses reported he had run into Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant seeking help. Officers located the man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported by Medic 112 to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is also listed in critical condition.

Investigators believe the incident began near Broad and Juniper Streets, where a suspect driving a black Acura SUV opened fire on the driver of an Audi. Gunfire continued as both vehicles traveled south toward Broad and Packer Avenue, culminating in the Audi crashing into a Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Toyota told police that the suspect continued to fire several additional rounds into the Audi before fleeing the scene at high speed. The sequence of events created multiple crime scenes across several blocks, with numerous shell casings recovered along the route.

Police recovered approximately 10 shell casings at one location and 8 more at another, indicating a violent confrontation stretching across multiple blocks. Officers have cordoned off the area, and traffic along Broad Street from Oregon Avenue to Packer Avenue remains heavily restricted as investigators process evidence.

At this time, it remains unclear how the second victim is connected to the shooting or at which exact location he was struck by gunfire. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking to witnesses to piece together the timeline of events and identify the suspect.

The suspect, described only as driving a black Acura SUV, remains at large. Philadelphia Police and the Philadelphia Shooting Investigation Group have launched a citywide search, urging anyone with information to come forward. The motive for the shooting is still under active investigation.

City officials have emphasized the danger posed by active shooters and the need for public vigilance. Law enforcement agencies are working to ensure the area is safe and to prevent further incidents while collecting evidence critical to apprehending the suspect.
