Atlanta, Georgia — The payroll and business communities are mourning the loss of a highly respected professional, Levi Meeske, CPP, whose dedication, expertise, and mentorship left a lasting mark across Atlanta and the national payroll industry. His passing has deeply affected colleagues, friends, and countless professionals inspired by his career and leadership.
Levi Meeske began his journey in payroll in September 2001 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska. Entering the field with curiosity and drive, he quickly became recognized for his analytical skills, precision, and commitment to excellence.
Over two decades, Meeske advanced from payroll clerk to administrator, supervisor, and eventually manager. He worked across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, hospitality, and healthcare, bringing innovative solutions and optimizing payroll processes wherever he served. His career was defined by integrity, a focus on compliance, and a desire to improve efficiency through technology and documentation.
His influence extended beyond the workplace through long-standing involvement with the APA Atlanta Chapter. Meeske held leadership roles including President, Government Liaison Officer, and Chair of the Georgia Statewide Payroll Conference. Through these positions, he shaped initiatives, educated peers, and strengthened the local payroll community.
After earning his Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential in 2007, Meeske became a dedicated mentor. He led CPP/FPC Study Groups for years, guiding emerging professionals with patience, insight, and encouragement. His mentorship helped countless individuals achieve certifications and advance their careers.
Nationally, Meeske’s impact was equally profound. He served on the APA’s National Speaker’s Bureau and CPP Certification Board, sharing his knowledge with payroll professionals across the country. He also contributed to PAYTECH’s Board of Contributing Writers, the Regional Board of Advisors, and various strategic and emerging technology committees, including SPLTF and GRTF.
Levi Meeske’s dedication extended to education as well. He instructed PayTrain Mastery courses at Kennesaw State University, teaching critical payroll concepts and fostering the next generation of industry leaders. His approachable style and ability to simplify complex topics made him a beloved instructor.
Beyond his professional achievements, Meeske was admired for his warmth, humor, and creativity. He enjoyed puzzles, coin collecting, and Caribbean cruises, but above all treasured time with his family. Colleagues often noted his contagious joy and ability to make everyone feel valued and welcomed.
His innovative spirit was exemplified in the 2025 Georgia Statewide Payroll Conference theme, “What It Takes to Pay,” which he designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and appreciation for the problem-solving nature of payroll work. This theme remains a testament to his professional vision and dedication.
The passing of Levi Meeske leaves an irreplaceable void in the payroll community. Tributes from colleagues and professional organizations highlight his loyalty, mentorship, and leadership. While deeply missed, his legacy of guidance, innovation, and kindness will continue to inspire the payroll industry for years to come.
