Roshaud Rhett, 20, Fatally Shot in Millville: Cumberland County Authorities Launch Homicide Investigation

Millville, NJ — June 14, 2025 — The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office has launched a full-scale homicide investigation following the tragic shooting death of 20-year-old Roshaud Rhett in Millville, New Jersey.

According to official reports, Millville Police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Maurice Street at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered Rhett suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. First responders immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene before transporting the young man to Inspira Medical Center Vineland.

Despite the best efforts of emergency medical personnel, Roshaud Rhett was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and Millville Police Department are jointly handling the ongoing investigation. Detectives spent much of the day canvassing the area, collecting evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to determine what led to the deadly violence in what is typically a quiet residential neighborhood.

At this time, no arrests have been announced, and investigators have not yet identified any suspects or persons of interest. Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive or whether the shooting may have been targeted or random.

The 300 block of Maurice Street was temporarily cordoned off for several hours on Saturday afternoon, as crime scene investigators thoroughly examined the area for shell casings, ballistic evidence, surveillance footage, and other forensic clues that could help reconstruct the moments leading up to the fatal shooting.

Neighbors expressed shock and grief at the news of the young man’s death. Many described Rhett as a quiet and respectful individual with a bright future ahead. “It’s heartbreaking,” one resident told local media. “He was just 20 years old—his life was just beginning.”

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office is urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward. Anonymous tips are welcome and could prove vital to solving this case and bringing justice to Rhett’s grieving family and friends.

As of now, the case remains under active and ongoing investigation, with law enforcement continuing to follow all leads.
