(WROC) — June 22, 2025 — A homicide investigation is underway after 30-year-old David Vazquez was found fatally shot in a backyard along Oscar Street near Remington Street early Sunday morning. The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the city’s latest act of gun violence.
Officers responded to the area shortly before 7:00 a.m., where they located Vazquez’s body in the rear yard of a vacant residence. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe the shooting may have occurred earlier in the morning, with Vazquez’s body only being discovered hours later.
According to investigators, the vacant property where he was found is known to law enforcement as a location being used as a gatehouse for drug sales—adding a layer of complexity to the investigation.
