Hendersonville Man Arrested After Threatening Mass Shooting at Walmart
On June 23, 2025, the Hendersonville Police Department was alerted to anonymous threats of a mass shooting targeting the Walmart located at 204 N. Anderson Lane. The threats, received by store personnel, sparked immediate concern and prompted a coordinated investigation between HPD and the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security. Through the investigation, authorities identified Patrick Michael Ehringer, 37, as the individual responsible for the threats.
Investigators determined the messages were motivated by a failed personal relationship and specifically intended to harass an employee of the store rather than pose a credible mass casualty threat. Nonetheless, the threats were taken extremely seriously by law enforcement.
Ehringer was interviewed by detectives, arrested, and charged with False Reports, a felony offense under Tennessee law. He was booked into the Sumner County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $200,000 bond. His court appearance is scheduled for July 9, 2025, in Sumner County General Sessions Court.
“Even if intended as harassment, threats of this nature disrupt public safety and will not be tolerated,” an HPD spokesperson stated. “We are grateful for the swift collaboration with Homeland Security to identify and arrest the suspect.”
