Homicide Investigation Underway in Fresno Following Fatal Shooting of 31-Year-Old Benjamin Flores

Fresno, TX – June 24, 2025 — The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office (FBCSO) has launched an active homicide investigation following a tragic shooting that claimed the life of 31-year-old Benjamin Flores. The incident occurred late on the evening of June 10, 2025, at a location near 3503 FM 521 Road in Fresno, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting a call for public assistance in identifying the suspect.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., FBCSO deputies were dispatched to the scene in response to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Flores suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were immediately called, and Flores was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting may have been a targeted act, though authorities have not yet released a potential motive. Surveillance video from the area captured a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene—a blue 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, believed to be equipped with a Texas license plate featuring a Marine Corps Veteran’s Emblem on the left side. Detectives believe the vehicle was directly involved in the crime and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the driver or vehicle owner.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the relationship—if any—between the victim and the suspected shooter, nor have they commented on whether this shooting may be connected to any prior incidents in the area.

Benjamin Flores is remembered by friends and family as a young man with a gentle soul and an open heart. His untimely death has devastated those who knew him, and tributes have been pouring in across social media from loved ones who are now left grieving a life cut tragically short.

In a statement, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice in the case and bringing closure to the Flores family:

“We are determined to follow every lead in this investigation and ask that anyone with information—no matter how small—contact us immediately. The family of Mr. Flores deserves answers, and we are working tirelessly to deliver them.”

Residents of Fresno and surrounding areas have expressed concern over the rise in gun violence and the brazenness of such a crime occurring late at night in a residential area. Many are calling for increased surveillance and patrol presence to deter further violence.

Authorities are urging the public to help in the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to the shooting, the suspect vehicle, or the suspect’s whereabouts is strongly encouraged to contact the FBCSO non-emergency number at 281-341-4665 (option 1). For those wishing to provide tips anonymously, Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers is available at 281-342-TIPS (8477). Information leading to an arrest and charges may be eligible for a cash reward.

As the investigation continues, the community of Fresno mourns the loss of Benjamin Flores and hopes for swift justice and healing in the wake of this senseless act of violence.
