FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals Thursday afternoon near Weisser Park.
The incident unfolded shortly after 12:00 p.m. in the 3000 block of Hamilton Avenue, between Gaywood Drive and Smith Street.
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and discovered a man and a woman deceased at the scene.
According to Sgt. Jeremy Webb, preliminary findings suggest the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation between the man and the woman, identified as Anisha Jackson.
Witnesses reported that Jackson attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle. As she tried to drive away, the man allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting her. The vehicle continued for a short distance before crashing into a nearby residence.
In response to the initial shooting, another individual at the scene returned fire, fatally shooting the man. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

Police cordoned off a section of Hamilton Avenue as investigators worked at the scene, joined by Fort Wayne Fire Department personnel.
Multiple evidence markers and a crashed vehicle were visible within the taped-off area.
Sgt. Webb said detectives are actively investigating and are seeking information from the public to identify the individual who returned fire.
At this time, it is unclear whether the person who shot the man was acting in defense of Jackson or in another capacity.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
