LOUISVILLE, Ky. — June 27, 2025 — A tragic crash on the Clark Memorial Bridge, also known locally as the Second Street Bridge, brought traffic to a complete halt Friday evening and claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers were dispatched to the bridge at approximately 7:05 p.m. following reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcyclist struck the vehicle while traveling across the bridge, which connects Louisville, Kentucky, to Jeffersonville, Indiana. Despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the injuries sustained.
The driver of the other vehicle was injured and transported to a local hospital by EMS. LMPD reported that the driver is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the fatal crash, all lanes of the Clark Memorial Bridge were shut down in both directions. Louisville Metro Police’s Traffic Unit is leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
