Active Shooter Reported at Wildfire Scene in Northern Idaho, Multiple Firefighters Reportedly Injured

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A rapidly evolving active shooter situation in northern Idaho has left multiple firefighters injured while responding to a wildfire, prompting an urgent law enforcement and emergency response.

According to officials, the incident occurred Saturday in the area of East Nettleton Gulch Road near Canfield Mountain, where fire crews were battling a brush fire when they came under gunfire.

Northern Lakes Fire Protection District Chief Pat Riley confirmed that multiple firefighters were shot while working to contain the blaze.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office issued an emergency alert to local residents, stating:

“Active shooter at Canfield Mountain. Injuries are reported, but the extent is unknown. Avoid the area.”

Emergency medical crews and law enforcement officers responded immediately to the scene.
