PRESS RELEASE: Officer-Involved Shooting – Miftau Oladipo Fatally Shot Following Aggravated Robbery and Pursuit in Stafford, Texas
STAFFORD, TEXAS — On Sunday, July 6, 2025, a series of escalating incidents led to a fatal officer-involved shooting in Stafford. The deceased suspect, identified as Miftau Oladipo, age 30, was involved in multiple criminal acts before confronting officers with a weapon.
At approximately 3:15 PM, Stafford Police Officers responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a man with a large knife in the 300 block of Avenue E. A second caller confirmed that the man, later identified as Oladipo, had crossed FM 1092 and was behaving erratically.
Shortly after, a third 911 call came from the 7-Eleven convenience store at 2919 North Main Street, where a woman reported being robbed by a man matching Oladipo’s description: a Black male wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and a white shirt.
Stafford officers quickly located Miftau Oladipo near Avenue E and Shady Brook Drive. Upon making contact, Oladipo fled on foot. Officers pursued him through the neighborhood.
During the foot chase, Oladipo armed himself with a large kitchen knife and a brick and began to charge at officers. In an attempt to subdue him, officers deployed a Taser, which failed to stop him. As the threat escalated, a second officer discharged their service weapon, striking Oladipo.
Officers immediately rendered life-saving aid, but despite their efforts, Miftau Oladipo was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation Underway
The Stafford Police Department, in partnership with the Texas Rangers, the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, and the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting a full investigation into the events that led to Oladipo’s death.
Body camera footage, physical evidence, and witness testimony are being reviewed to determine the exact sequence of events. The officers involved are currently on administrative duty, as is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings.
“We understand how deeply incidents like this affect both the community and the officers involved,” said Lt. Luciano Lopez, PIO for Stafford Police. “All appropriate procedures were followed to de-escalate the situation, but unfortunately, Mr. Oladipo’s actions presented an immediate and deadly threat.”
