On Friday, July 25, 2025, shortly before 3:00 p.m., a tragic single-vehicle motorcycle crash occurred in Union Parish, Louisiana, claiming the life of 69-year-old David Voorhies of Woodville, Mississippi. Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F are investigating the incident, which took place on U.S. Highway 167, just south of Louisiana Highway 2.

Preliminary findings indicate that Voorhies was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle veered off the roadway and struck a cattle gate. Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Voorhies suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. The Louisiana State Police emphasize the importance of motorcycle safety, encouraging all riders to participate in approved motorcycle safety courses. These programs teach critical riding techniques and strategies that can help reduce the risk of serious injury or death in crashes.

Troop F extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of David Voorhies during this time of loss. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
