OZARK, Ala. — A 20-year-old woman from Ozark, Chamiya Ma’shae Beaty, is in custody after a drive-by shooting on July 24, 2025, that left one woman injured and endangered multiple lives, including children. Beaty was apprehended in Lake City, Florida, and extradited to Alabama, where she is now held at the Dale County Jail.

**The Incident
At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, gunfire erupted in the 400 block of Dixie Drive in Ozark. Ozark Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at a residence. Officers arrived to find an adult female inside the home with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was promptly transported to a Birmingham hospital for treatment. Six people, including three adults and three children aged 4 to 13, were inside the home at the time. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported.

**Investigation and Arrest
Through meticulous evidence collection, forensic analysis, and eyewitness accounts, investigators identified Chamiya Ma’shae Beaty as the primary suspect. Authorities determined the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute involving one of the home’s adult occupants, but the injured woman was an unintended victim, unaffiliated with the conflict.

Following a multi-agency effort, Beaty was located in Lake City, Florida, on the evening of July 25, 2025, around 7:30 p.m. The Ozark Police Department, Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol collaborated to apprehend her. At the time of her arrest, Beaty was found with a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the shooting and a firearm believed to be the weapon involved. She was initially booked into Lake City Jail before being extradited to Alabama.

**Charges
Chamiya Ma’shae Beaty faces serious charges related to the incident, including:

– Attempted Murder
– Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling
– Discharging a Firearm into an Unoccupied Vehicle

These charges underscore the significant danger posed to the occupants of the home, particularly the young children present during the shooting.

**Multi-Agency Cooperation
The Ozark Police Department expressed gratitude for the swift and effective collaboration with partnering agencies. “This arrest reflects the strength of our partnership with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol,” an Ozark PD spokesperson stated. “Their rapid response ensured a dangerous individual was taken into custody, preventing further risk to our community.”

**Ongoing Investigation
As the legal process continues, Chamiya Ma’shae Beaty is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains active, with authorities anticipating additional details as the case progresses.
