7-Year-Old’s Tragic Death in Chilton County Dog Attack Spurs Urgent Community Safety Plea

On July 22, 2025, at approximately 6:10 p.m., the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call regarding a severe dog attack near County Road 147 in the Calera area. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 7-year-old Noah Jovani suffering from serious injuries caused by an attack from one or more aggressive dogs. Despite being rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment, the young boy tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Initially, the dogs involved in the attack were not located, prompting concern among authorities and the community. The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Chilton County Animal Control, launched an immediate search for the animals. As of the latest update, the dogs have been successfully located and are now in the custody of Animal Control.


The owner of the dogs is cooperating fully with investigators as the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office continues its active investigation. Authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the dogs were stray or domesticated, if they were properly secured prior to the attack, and whether any violations of local animal control ordinances occurred.

Sheriff John Shearon expressed the community’s grief, stating, “Our hearts are broken for the child and the family affected by this unimaginable loss. We are fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine how this tragedy occurred and to help prevent something like this from ever happening again.”

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is urging all residents to ensure their pets are properly contained and to adhere to local animal control regulations to safeguard the community. Authorities are also encouraging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.
