HORRIFIC TRAGEDY IN FLORIDA 💔
A Community Mourns the Senseless Loss of 17-Year-Old Nosiah Santos
A devastating tragedy has sent shockwaves through Florida and across the nation, as the violent and senseless death of 17-year-old Nosiah Santos has left a family shattered, a mother traumatized, and a community grieving.
Nosiah, a vibrant young soul with his whole life ahead of him, was brutally shot and beaten to death—allegedly at the hands of his 23-year-old boyfriend, Henry Jonathan Valencia. What makes this tragedy even more harrowing is that the young boy’s mother was watching helplessly via FaceTime, forced to witness her son’s final moments in real time, unable to intervene.
The incident unfolded in Marion County, Florida, after the couple—who had reportedly met on the dating app Grindr just four months earlier—traveled to a truck stop together. What began as a typical outing turned into a nightmare.
According to law enforcement and heartbreaking accounts from family members, the relationship between Nosiah and Valencia had been increasingly volatile in recent weeks. On that day, an argument erupted—allegedly triggered by Valencia’s jealousy over Nosiah messaging other men. Tired of the emotional manipulation and turmoil, Nosiah reportedly told Valencia he was “done,” expressing that he was too young to deal with such instability and that his mother was on the way to get him.
Nosiah attempted to walk away.
But in a horrifying and unprovoked escalation, Valencia allegedly pulled out a gun, shot Nosiah, and then continued to savagely beat him—all while Nosiah’s mother remained on the FaceTime call, screaming in terror as she watched her son’s life being ripped away.
Despite fleeing the scene, Valencia was located and apprehended by authorities several days later. He has since been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held without bond. Investigators say the motive behind the killing appears to be fueled by jealousy and possessiveness—a pattern not uncommon in abusive relationships but no less tragic when it culminates in such irreparable loss.
Nosiah’s mother, devastated and traumatized, is now left to relive the horrific memory of that FaceTime call—a moment no parent should ever endure. She has called for justice for her son and hopes his death will raise awareness about teen dating violence and the dangers of toxic relationships.
Friends and classmates describe Nosiah as bright, kind, and full of promise. He had dreams of making a difference in the world, of exploring who he was and becoming someone his family could be proud of. “He had the kind of light that drew people in,” one friend said. “He didn’t deserve this. No one does.”
The LGBTQ+ community and advocacy organizations have also expressed grief and outrage over the tragic loss, calling for more education, protection, and support for vulnerable youth navigating early relationships, especially those formed online.
A GoFundMe has been set up by family members to help cover funeral expenses and provide trauma support for Nosiah’s mother.
This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the real-life dangers of intimate partner violence, even among teens. It also shines a light on how digital connections—while offering opportunities for connection—can sometimes lead to deeply dangerous situations when trust is broken, and control turns to violence.
Nosiah Santos’s life was stolen far too soon. May his story not be forgotten, and may justice bring some measure of peace to those left behind to mourn him. 💔
Rest in Peace, Nosiah.
Your light will never fade from the hearts of those who loved you.
