Aledo Mourns the Sudden Loss of Beloved Community Pillar Cole Thompson, 41 Devoted Husband, Father, and Mentor Remembered for His Faith, Kindness, and Lasting Impact
ALEDO, TEXAS — June 15, 2025 — It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Cole Thompson, a beloved member of the Aledo community, who tragically died after suffering a sudden heart attack. His untimely departure has sent shockwaves of grief throughout Aledo and beyond — a solemn reminder of the fragility and preciousness of life.
Cole Thompson was more than just a familiar face in town; he was a cornerstone of the community — someone who greeted you with a genuine smile, lent a helping hand without being asked, and showed up with a servant’s heart in moments of joy and crisis alike. His loss leaves an absence that cannot be filled, not only in the lives of his loved ones but also in the heart of a town that considered him one of its own.
Born on July 27, 1983, Cole was a proud Texan, deeply rooted in faith, family, and the values that make small-town life so meaningful. He grew up in Aledo, attended local schools, and later returned to raise his own family in the very community that helped shape him. He was a proud graduate of Aledo High School, where he excelled not only in academics but also as a respected teammate on the football field. Those early years laid the foundation for the man he would become — hardworking, loyal, and full of heart.
Cole was a man of many roles, each one fulfilled with unwavering dedication. As a husband, he was devoted and deeply in love with his wife, Emily Thompson, his partner in all of life’s adventures. As a father, he was endlessly proud of his children, always present and engaged — whether cheering from the sidelines, helping with homework, or simply being a steady presence at the dinner table. As a son, brother, and friend, he was the kind of person you could count on — the first to show up and the last to leave.
Professionally, Cole was admired for his strong work ethic and integrity. He worked in construction management, where he led projects with the same care and attention he gave his family and friends. Colleagues describe him as a natural leader, someone who treated everyone with respect regardless of title or background. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty, and he believed in building not just strong structures, but strong relationships.
Beyond his career, Cole gave much of his time and energy to the community he loved. He was an active member of Aledo United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees and mentored younger men in their faith journey. He volunteered as a youth sports coach, and his influence could be seen in the lives of the kids he coached — not just in their skills, but in the way they carried themselves with sportsmanship and respect.
Cole had a quiet strength and a calming presence. He didn’t seek accolades or attention, but his kindness, wisdom, and warmth made him a natural leader. His sense of humor, often dry and perfectly timed, could lighten even the heaviest moments. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and his absence will be deeply felt for years to come.
Cole is survived by his loving wife, Emily Thompson; their children, Jackson (12), Harper (9), and Ella (6); his parents, Rick and Linda Thompson; his younger brother, Kyle Thompson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who were more like family. Each of them carries a piece of his legacy — a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith.
A celebration of Cole’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Aledo United Methodist Church, with Reverend Lisa Hammond officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday evening, June 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth. The community is invited to attend both services to pay tribute to the life of a man who gave so much of himself to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cole Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund, benefiting local students pursuing trades and construction careers — a cause that reflects Cole’s passion for building both futures and foundations.
As Aledo mourns the loss of one of its finest, we also give thanks for the life of Cole Thompson — a man who lived with purpose, loved without condition, and left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.
“The measure of a life well lived is not in years, but in the love it gave and the lives it touched.”
