In a devastating incident that has shocked the entertainment community, authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the double homicide of Robin Kaye, a longtime music supervisor for *American Idol*, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both 70, inside their upscale home in Encino, Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a welfare check at the couple’s residence on the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, after a concerned individual reported not hearing from the couple for several days. Upon arrival, officers observed blood at the front entrance and gained entry by breaking a rear window. Inside, they discovered Kaye and Deluca deceased, each with multiple gunshot wounds, including to the head, in separate rooms of the home—Deluca in a bathroom and Kaye in a pantry.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, an Encino resident, was arrested without incident on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, by a multi-agency task force involving LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division, the FBI Fugitive Task Force, and other units. Investigators believe Boodarian entered the couple’s heavily fortified $4.5 million home, previously owned by the late rapper Juice WRLD, through an unlocked door on July 10, 2025, with the intent to burglarize the property. Surveillance footage captured Boodarian inside the home for approximately 30 minutes before Kaye and Deluca unexpectedly returned, leading to a violent confrontation. During the struggle, Boodarian allegedly shot both victims multiple times before fleeing on foot.

LAPD records indicate that on July 10, two calls were made reporting a possible burglary at the residence, including sightings of an individual, potentially armed, climbing the property’s fence. However, responding officers were unable to enter the fortified home, which features 8-foot walls with spikes and advanced security systems, and a police helicopter flyover revealed no visible signs of forced entry or suspicious activity. As a result, officers left the scene without making contact. Investigators now believe the murders occurred on that date, with the bodies undiscovered until the welfare check five days later.

Authorities have stated that the killings appear to be random, with no known connection between Boodarian and the victims. While Boodarian has a criminal history, he has no prior burglary offenses, and police have found no evidence linking him to organized burglary rings or accomplices. The incident is considered isolated, but detectives continue to investigate whether Boodarian was involved in prior calls for service at the residence, including a reported attempted intrusion a month earlier when the couple’s dogs alerted them to a trespasser.

Robin Kaye was a celebrated figure in the music and television industries, serving as a music supervisor for *American Idol* from 2009 to 2023, contributing to nearly 300 episodes and earning multiple Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. Her career also included work on shows like *Lip Sync Battle*, *The Singing Bee*, *Miss USA*, *Miss Universe*, and the *NAACP Image Awards*. In 2000, she founded SyncroniCity, a company representing artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Kenny Loggins. Thomas Deluca, a respected songwriter and musician, released his debut album *Down to the Wire* in 1986 and his most recent album, *Street Rock*, in 2022, writing for artists like Kid Rock and Meredith Brooks.

In a heartfelt statement, a spokesperson for *American Idol* expressed profound grief: “We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband Tom’s passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the *Idol* family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

The investigation remains ongoing, with LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division continuing to review surveillance footage and other evidence. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them at 818-374-9550. The tragic loss of Kaye and Deluca has left a profound void in the music and television communities, as friends, colleagues, and neighbors mourn the beloved couple.
