Asheboro North Carolina: Liam King Missing from Forest Hills Drive Home Sparks Federal Search Response

ASHEBORO, N.C. — A massive search effort is underway after 7-year-old Liam King, a nonverbal child with cognitive impairments, went missing Sunday morning from his relative’s home on Forest Hills Drive. Authorities warn that every hour is critical due to his disabilities and the potential dangers of the surrounding environment.

Sheriff Greg Seabolt confirmed that the search began immediately after Liam was reported missing around 11:00 a.m. Sunday. The situation prompted the deployment of hundreds of personnel, including local law enforcement, state resources, and federal agents from the FBI to assist with the investigation.

Search teams are utilizing drones, helicopters, and K-9 units to comb a 2,500-meter radius around Liam’s last known location. Officials emphasized that dense woods, ponds, streams, and drainage areas pose significant hazards to a small child and remain a high-priority focus for rescuers.

Authorities noted that Liam’s fascination with water could increase the risk of harm, making it essential for search teams to systematically check every possible pond, stream, or standing water area within the search perimeter. Specially trained water rescue units are assisting in this portion of the operation.

Liam’s parents, Jose Luis Reyes and Brenda Victoria King, have been actively involved in the search and are working closely with law enforcement. Officials described the family as experiencing the unimaginable stress and fear that comes with a missing child situation, urging the community to provide support during this difficult time.

The child is approximately 55 pounds and was last seen wearing a distinctive Nike sweatshirt and Sonic-themed socks. Authorities have urged anyone who may encounter Liam to proceed cautiously, as he may flee if approached by strangers, complicating rescue efforts.

Community members in Asheboro have rallied together to assist law enforcement. Volunteers are helping with organized search parties, distributing flyers, and sharing information on social media to raise awareness and maximize the chances of locating Liam quickly.

Deputies are coordinating with local schools, neighborhood associations, and businesses to ensure that all areas surrounding Forest Hills Drive are thoroughly checked. They are also using thermal imaging and night-vision equipment to extend the search into early evening hours, leaving no area unchecked.

Law enforcement officials continue to emphasize the importance of accurate reporting and caution against sharing unverified information. Tips or sightings can be reported directly to the Asheboro Police Department, which is coordinating all leads and prioritizing the safety of Liam during the ongoing search.

As the search continues around the clock, the Asheboro community remains hopeful and prayerful for Liam’s safe return. Authorities have assured the public that every available resource will be utilized to ensure the child is located and reunited with his family as quickly as possible.
