Baylor University Students Ordered to Shelter in Place as Police Pursue Robbery Suspects on Campus
WACO, Texas – Baylor University students and staff were urged to take immediate shelter on Tuesday amid an unfolding security incident on campus, which university officials described as a “dangerous situation.”
The university issued the alert via social media shortly after the situation developed, warning:
“Dangerous situation on Waco campus! Seek secure shelter now! Stay away from doors and windows. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!”
According to local law enforcement radio traffic, authorities are searching for two individuals dressed in black who were reportedly attempting to gain access to a secured area near the 700 block of Hines Avenue, which is in close proximity to the university grounds.
A law enforcement helicopter was observed circling the area, suggesting an active aerial search is underway.
As of now, there is no confirmation of injuries, arrests, or the precise nature of the threat.
Baylor University officials have not released further details, and the situation remains fluid. Law enforcement agencies are on site, and an investigation is ongoing.
