Bloomington, IL – July 8, 2025 — A Bloomington man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault following an intensive investigation by the Bloomington Police Department (BPD). On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Danyal D. Northern, age 40, of Bloomington, was taken into custody without incident in connection with a disturbing case involving several victims.
The investigation began earlier that day after a Bloomington Police patrol officer received a report that prompted the case’s referral to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the ages of the victims involved, detectives collaborated closely with the Children’s Advocacy Center and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to conduct victim interviews with care and professionalism, ensuring that proper support and protection were provided throughout the process.
Following the investigation, Northern was charged with ten felony counts, including:
•Six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under 13 years of age
•Two counts of criminal sexual assault involving a family member under 18 years of age
•Two counts of criminal sexual assault in a position of supervision of a victim aged 13 to 17 years
Northern was arrested without incident and currently remains in custody at the McLean County Detention Facility awaiting further proceedings.
