Camden Community Grieves 26-Year-Old Premire Wilson Lost in Chase Street Shooting

CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY — The city of Camden is once again mourning the loss of a young life after 26-year-old Premire Wilson tragically passed away in a shooting early Thursday morning, November 6, 2025, on the 1200 block of Chase Street. The incident has left friends, family, and neighbors in shock as authorities work to uncover the motive behind the violence that claimed another promising life in the community.

According to the Camden County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:47 a.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area. When patrol units arrived, they discovered a man later identified as Premire Wilson lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered first aid until EMS personnel arrived, but despite their best efforts, Wilson was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after 2:00 a.m.

Investigators with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and local police cordoned off several blocks of Chase Street while crime scene technicians collected evidence, including shell casings and surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses. Authorities have not announced any arrests at this time but confirmed that they are actively pursuing leads and reviewing witness statements.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information to contact Detective Matthew Kreidler of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office or use the department’s anonymous tip line. Officials believe the shooting may have stemmed from a personal dispute, though they have not ruled out other possibilities.

For those who knew Premire Wilson, the tragedy feels deeply personal. Friends describe him as ambitious, good-natured, and full of life — someone who worked hard to make a better future for himself and his family. “He was the kind of person who never stopped trying,” said childhood friend Tyrone Greene. “No matter what life threw at him, he just kept moving forward. He didn’t deserve this.”

Premire grew up in Camden and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2017. Known for his natural leadership and warm personality, he played basketball and volunteered in local youth programs. After high school, he took on various jobs, most recently working as a delivery driver while pursuing trade certifications in automotive technology.

“He loved cars, always talking about opening his own detailing business someday,” said his cousin, Danielle Wilson. “He had big dreams, and he was making them happen little by little.”

Those closest to him recall his dedication to his family — especially his younger siblings, whom he often helped with homework and encouraged to stay in school. His mother, Angela Wilson, described her son as “a protector with a big heart.” Through tears, she shared,

“He was my firstborn, my pride and joy. He always said he wanted to make me proud, and he did. He made everyone proud.”

The news of Premire’s passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, where friends and neighbors shared memories and tributes, using hashtags like #JusticeForPremire and #CamdenStrong. Many expressed frustration over the continued gun violence that has plagued Camden and called for peace and unity within the community.

In response to the tragedy, local leaders and clergy members have organized a vigil for Saturday evening at Farnham Park, where candles will be lit in memory of Premire. Community members are invited to share stories, pray for healing, and support his grieving family.

The Camden County Anti-Violence Coalition also announced plans to dedicate their next outreach event to Premire’s memory, emphasizing the importance of addressing root causes of violence through mentorship, education, and employment opportunities for young adults.

Funeral arrangements for Premire Wilson are being handled by Carl Miller Funeral Home in Camden. His family has requested privacy as they mourn and prepare to lay him to rest. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist with funeral expenses and provide support to his loved ones.

As Camden reflects on yet another life lost far too soon, the community remembers Premire not for the circumstances of his death, but for the kindness, ambition, and hope he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through the people he inspired — friends, family, and neighbors who vow to keep his memory alive by working toward a safer, stronger city.

“He was always talking about change — about making Camden better,” said family friend Marcus Hall. “Now it’s up to us to make that happen in his name.”
