DELTONA, FL — The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) has issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Thomas A. Calderon in connection with a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025, in Deltona. Calderon is now wanted for attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and is considered armed and dangerous.

According to VSO officials, deputies were notified around 3:11 a.m. when a 29-year-old male victim arrived at an Orange City hospital, driven there by his girlfriend, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators quickly determined that the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument between Calderon and the victim. The altercation reportedly escalated when Calderon confronted the victim over the way he had allegedly been treating his girlfriend. During the dispute, Calderon pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the stomach.

Search Conducted at Calderon’s Residence

Deputies responded to the scene of the incident at 1500 Flagami Terrace in Deltona, where Calderon resides. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence in an effort to collect evidence and locate the suspect. However, Calderon had already fled the scene.

Authorities believe Calderon has ties to the Sanford and Seminole County areas, and they are actively working with surrounding jurisdictions to track down his whereabouts.

Victim in Critical but Stable Condition

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was later transferred to a hospital in Sanford, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Medical personnel are closely monitoring his recovery.
