Columbus Division of Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an active shooter at approximately 4:30 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes to find Belyue outside the facility, reportedly firing multiple rounds at the building while employees were inside.
Police said officers confronted Belyue, which resulted in a brief standoff. During the encounter, Belyue took his own life before authorities could take further action. Fortunately, no employees inside the warehouse were physically harmed, although several rounds struck the building, causing visible damage.
