Dallas Police have released the identities of the victim and suspect involved in a tragic shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon in the Love Field area of Dallas. The victim, 44-year-old Augustin Espinosa, was fatally shot, while the suspect, 43-year-old Robert Simmons, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 4400 block of Maple Avenue, near the intersection of Maple and Wycliff Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Augustin Espinosa unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel attended to Espinosa, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert Simmons, 43, was apprehended at a nearby location shortly after the shooting, though police have not specified the exact site of his arrest. Simmons faces charges of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of bond conditions related to prior charges, including an aggravated robbery and a protective order violation. He is currently being held in Dallas County Jail with a total bond set at $2,000 for the possession and bond violation charges.
