Dear FRIENDS, READERS, and FOLLOWERS,

Spread the love

These are deeply troubling and uncertain times. Tonight, a wave of fear and concern has swept over our community here in Saint John. As I write this message at 9:22 PM, a PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT has been issued following a shooting incident near Rockwood Park.

Authorities have confirmed that the shooter remains at large, and the situation is ongoing. In light of this, residents are being urged to avoid the areas around Seeley Street, Mount Pleasant, Lily Lake, and all of Rockwood Park. If you or your loved ones are located in these neighborhoods, please follow the official directive to SHELTER-IN-PLACE. Your safety must be the highest priority.

Understandably, crime and personal safety are weighing heavily on all our hearts tonight. The truth is, many of us have long harbored concerns about the fragility of the Canadian justice system. The widely criticized “Catch & Release” approach continues to erode our confidence in meaningful accountability and protection. We find ourselves asking: When will things truly change?

In these moments of fear and uncertainty, our thoughts naturally turn to those in leadership. There is cautious hope—can Mark Carney make a difference? Will he bring the kind of bold, effective leadership that prioritizes public safety and real justice? Time will tell. But tonight, we can only pray that the path forward leads to a safer and stronger Canada for all of us.

To everyone reading this—whether near or far—I urge you to be cautious, stay informed, and look after one another. We are all more vulnerable than we’d like to admit, but in times like these, community matters more than ever.

Thank you for continuing to read, share, and engage with my words. Your support gives me strength to keep going, to keep writing, and to keep speaking out.

Have a peaceful and safe evening, wherever you are. I’ll be back to check in with you in just a few hours.

With special warmth and sincere appreciation,
Margaret
