Declan Vance Sadler Obituary — In Loving Memory
With profound grief and unimaginable sorrow, the family of Declan Vance Sadler announces the heartbreaking and untimely passing of their cherished little boy. Declan, a bright and joyful soul, passed away tragically in an accident on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Cataula, Georgia, just three weeks shy of his fourth birthday. He left this world cradled in love, surrounded by his family, his favorite things, and the deep warmth of a life that—though brief—was bursting with happiness, wonder, and boundless affection.
Born on July 5, 2021, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Declan was the beloved son of Josh and Chelsea Sadler, who poured their hearts into nurturing a little boy full of curiosity, courage, and compassion. In every way, Declan was a beacon of light. His dazzling smile, sparkling eyes, and infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. He lived each moment with an enthusiasm that was truly his own—fearless, joyful, and entirely unfiltered.
Declan was a boy who loved deeply and explored freely. From a young age, he had a remarkable zest for adventure, always eager to discover the world around him. He was enchanted by monster trucks, dinosaurs, fire trucks, and Thomas the Tank Engine. Whether racing his Hot Wheels across the kitchen floor, mimicking the roar of a T-Rex, or rewatching Mario videos, Declan lived in a vivid, colorful world of his own design—one filled with laughter, imagination, and the magic of childhood.
One of his favorite places in the world was Dollywood, where he delighted in rides and treats and the simple thrill of being outside with his loved ones. Declan was also immensely proud of his recent accomplishments, including completing his first season with the Bristol Little League Cubs and mastering potty training—a milestone he celebrated with the joy and pride that only a toddler could express. He had been excitedly planning his monster truck-themed fourth birthday party, already choosing his favorite decorations and looking forward to cake, fun, and being surrounded by those he loved most.
Declan’s life was centered on love—especially the deep bond he shared with his parents. He adored his “pajama days” with Mommy and Daddy, where snuggles, cartoons, and simple joys were treasured. He was never far from his three loyal puppies, Lincoln, Lucy, and Loki, who followed him faithfully and completed his little world with wagging tails and unconditional love.
He was a sweet, faith-filled child who knew Jesus in the purest, most sincere way. Declan’s faith was shown in his joy, his kindness, and the way he made people feel seen and loved. His presence at Boones Creek Christian Church, Avoca Pre-School, and GUMP brought smiles to countless faces, and his teachers often spoke of his big heart and gentle spirit.
Declan leaves behind a legacy that, though formed in just under four years, is remarkably powerful. His love for life, for his family, for the small things—like bubbles, cookies, and bedtime stories—will never be forgotten. He taught all who knew him what it meant to live fully, to love freely, and to be grateful for each moment.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Josh and Chelsea Sadler; his furry companions, Lincoln, Lucy, and Loki; his loving grandparents Tonya Smith-Ludlow (“Hunny”), and Sam and Gina Sumpter (“Pop Pop and Gigi”); great-grandparents Ron and Janice Shelton (“Mamaw and Papaw”), Janice Partin Smith (“Nana”), Georgie and Butch Wheeler, and Sam Sumpter Sr.; as well as his beloved aunt and uncle John and Hannah Sumpter (“Nana and JJ”). He is also remembered by many extended family members, family friends, classmates, teachers, and members of the community who mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
A Celebration of Life for Declan will be held at Boones Creek Christian Church (details to be announced). The Sadler family is grateful for the continued prayers, support, and expressions of love during this time of immense sorrow. They ask the community to join them not only in mourning their loss but in honoring the spirit of a child who embodied the truest form of light and love.
In Declan’s memory, the family encourages others to embrace life as he did—joyfully, playfully, and with hearts wide open. He may have been small in stature, but his legacy is towering in love.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
Rest peacefully, sweet Declan. Your adventure continues in Heaven, and your light shines on here in every life you’ve touched.
