Devoted Father and Grandfather, Michael Flores, Sr., Fatally Shot in Mobile Home

MOBILE, Ala. – A devastating shooting on the night of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, resulted in the death of 55-year-old Michael Flores, Sr., in what Mobile authorities have described as a tragic and senseless act of violence. Officers from the Mobile Police Department responded to a report of an assault at approximately 11:12 p.m. in the 4700 block of Calhoun Road.

Upon arrival, police discovered Michael Flores, Sr. inside a residence, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Following an intensive investigation, 19-year-old Cody Speese was arrested on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and charged with murder in connection to Flores’ death. In addition to the murder charge, Speese faces a charge of retail theft of property in the third degree. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the motive behind the shooting or whether there was any prior relationship between Flores and Speese.

The loss of Michael Flores, Sr. has deeply affected his family, friends, and the Mobile community. Described as a loving father, grandfather, and cherished neighbor, his passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him.
