A 27-year-old man from South Whitehall Township, Adam Makowka, is in custody facing charges of criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and two counts of aggravated assault following a fatal shooting in Allentown, Pennsylvania, early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025.

The incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. in a home located in the 700 block of West Turner Street. According to Allentown police, Makowka entered the residence through a roof access door via the fire escape and fatally shot his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, led by Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, pronounced the victim dead at the scene at approximately 6 a.m. The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of her family, with an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Authorities allege that after killing the woman, Makowka fired a rifle into a room where another man and the victim’s son were present. No injuries were reported to the man or the child. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed, and police have provided limited details beyond their official statements.

Makowka was apprehended without incident approximately two hours later in a park in Lansdowne, Delaware County, about 60 miles south of Allentown. He was found in his vehicle and taken into custody. As of late Tuesday morning, Makowka was awaiting extradition to Lehigh County for arraignment. Court records do not yet list an attorney for him, and attempts to contact him directly were unsuccessful.

The investigation is ongoing, involving the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Allentown Police Department.
