Fairfield Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Antony Gutierrez Silva in Fatal Post Road Crash That Killed Juan Otilio Tista Tista

FAIRFIELD, CT — A tragic crash on the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2025, has resulted in the death of 25-year-old Juan Otilio Tista Tista of Bridgeport and led to the arrest of Antony Gutierrez Silva, a 16-year-old also from Bridgeport. The fatal collision, which occurred at the intersection of Post Road and South Benson Road, is now the subject of an extensive investigation by the Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a serious crash involving a moped and a passenger vehicle. Emergency personnel responded quickly and located Mr. Tista Tista with life-threatening injuries. Despite valiant life-saving efforts at the scene and en route to the hospital, Juan Otilio Tista Tista was later pronounced dead.

In the aftermath of the collision, police determined that Antony Gutierrez Silva was operating the vehicle that struck Mr. Tista Tista’s moped. Investigators learned that Gutierrez Silva had been traveling westbound on Post Road and attempted to turn left onto South Benson Road, directly into the path of Mr. Tista Tista, who was riding eastbound in the right lane.

Fleeing the Scene

After the crash, Gutierrez Silva fled without stopping to render aid or call for help. A witness attempted to follow him, but in an effort to escape, Gutierrez Silva struck the witness’s vehicle as well, resulting in a second hit-and-run.

Later that same night, officers with the Crash Reconstruction Unit located Antony Gutierrez Silva at his residence in Bridgeport, where he was taken into custody without incident. His vehicle, which matched the description and showed signs of damage, was seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Charges Filed Against Antony Gutierrez Silva

Following their investigation, the Fairfield Police Department has filed several charges against Gutierrez Silva:

  • Negligent Homicide with a Motor Vehicle
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License
  • Passenger Restrictions Violation
  • Failure to Grant the Right of Way While Turning Left
  • Evading Responsibility Resulting in Death
  • Evading Responsibility (Property Damage)

Although Antony Gutierrez Silva is 16 years old, under Connecticut law, motor vehicle-related offenses are not considered juvenile matters, and he will be prosecuted as an adult.

Department and Community Response

The Fairfield Police Department extended its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Juan Otilio Tista Tista, acknowledging the immeasurable grief caused by the sudden loss of a young life.

The department also thanked the Fairfield Fire Department, AMR personnel, and especially the members of the public who acted quickly to report the crash and those who provided crucial video evidence and statements that helped investigators swiftly identify the suspect.
