FELON IN POSSESSION OF FIREARM ARRESTED IN HARRIS COUNTY
On a routine patrol that turned into a significant law enforcement action, Harris County deputies arrested a convicted felon found in possession of a firearm during a traffic stop.
The incident occurred in the 17700 block of River Road, where deputies initiated a traffic stop on a black Cadillac for a transportation code violation. The vehicle’s driver, later identified as Karl Brady, was detained during the course of the stop. What began as a standard check quickly escalated into a more serious situation.
Upon developing probable cause, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located a Taurus .380 caliber handgun inside the Cadillac. Recognizing the seriousness of the discovery, deputies launched an immediate investigation to determine Brady’s legal eligibility to possess a firearm.
It was then confirmed that Karl Brady is a convicted felon, making the possession of any firearm a felony offense under Texas law. In accordance with legal procedures, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and accepted charges for “Felon in Possession of a Firearm.”
Brady was taken into custody without incident, transported to the Harris County Jail, and booked on the felony charge. Authorities emphasized that no further resistance was encountered, and the weapon was secured as evidence.
This arrest underscores the commitment of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to proactive enforcement of public safety laws. Firearm possession by individuals prohibited under law continues to pose a serious threat to communities, and officers remain vigilant in identifying and addressing such violations during even the most routine stops.
Law enforcement officials also encourage residents to report any suspicious or criminal activity by contacting their local authorities or anonymously through crime tip lines. Community cooperation plays a vital role in helping keep neighborhoods safe.
Karl Brady remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
