On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a shooting at a home-based daycare in Granada Hills triggered a swift response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and emergency services, resulting in two adult women being hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at a residence on the 17300 block of West Firma Court, which was operating as the Kids Dream Learning Center, a licensed daycare facility. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, emergency personnel treated two adult female victims at the scene. One woman suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, while the other was shot in the back. Both were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, though their current conditions have not been disclosed.

LAPD officers secured the area and confirmed that all 17 children present at the daycare were unharmed and accounted for, emphasizing that none of the children were injured or directly involved in the incident. The suspect, who fled the scene in a grey Tesla immediately after the shooting, was later apprehended by police near Sherman Way and Balboa Boulevard. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released details about the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victims.

Images from the scene captured a significant police presence, with officers cordoning off the neighborhood to ensure public safety and process evidence. Two victims were seen being transported on gurneys to awaiting ambulances. The area was temporarily closed off to traffic and residents as law enforcement conducted their investigation.

The LAPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and urges anyone with information to contact detectives to assist with the ongoing investigation.
