Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrest in Cookville, Texas

Cookville, TX – June 2, 2025 — A homicide investigation launched over the weekend in Cookville has led to the arrest of a local man following the discovery of a deceased woman at a residence in rural Titus County.

On the evening of June 1, 2025, deputies from the Titus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a possible homicide at a residence located in the 500 block of County Road 3130 in Cookville, a small unincorporated community in northeast Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a deceased female at the scene. The woman was later identified as Amy Denmon Allen, age 54.

According to the Titus County Sheriff’s Office, Amy Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies detained her husband, Michael Paul Allen, age 52, who was present at the time of their arrival. Officials did not immediately disclose the nature of the injuries or the suspected cause of death, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Shortly after the discovery, investigators with the Titus County Criminal Investigation Division conducted an extensive interview with Michael Allen. Based on statements made during the interview and evidence collected at the scene, investigators developed probable cause to arrest Allen. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Titus County Jail on a charge of Murder.

On the morning of June 2, 2025, Michael Allen was formally arraigned before a Titus County magistrate. His bond was set at $1,000,000.

While the arrest marks a significant development in the case, authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Sheriff’s officials have declined to release further information, including details surrounding the circumstances of Amy Allen’s death, the timeline of events, or whether any prior domestic incidents were reported.

“This is a tragic situation, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office stated. “Our detectives are continuing to work diligently to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted.”

The Titus County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging anyone with additional information related to this case to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Titus County Crime Stoppers.

As the community grapples with the shocking nature of this event, officials urge the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigative process to take its course. Further updates will be released as they become available and as appropriate for the integrity of the case.
