In Loving Memory of Addilynn Robbins, 12 — A Bright Young Soul Gone Too Soon

MYRTLE, MISSISSIPPI — A devastating car crash in Union County has plunged the small town of Myrtle into profound grief following the heartbreaking death of 12-year-old Addilynn Robbins on the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025. The tragic accident occurred on County Road 51, leaving a family shattered and a tight-knit community mourning the untimely loss of a cherished child.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched shortly after reports of a single-vehicle crash came in around 7:45 p.m. Authorities arrived at the scene to find a vehicle had veered off the rural road and overturned. Addilynn, a passenger in the car, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials have not released the name of the driver, but they have confirmed that others in the vehicle survived and were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. No charges have been filed at this time, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol is working alongside local law enforcement to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.

A Life of Joy, Promise, and Innocence

Addilynn Robbins, affectionately known as “Addi” to her friends and family, was a vibrant and spirited young girl whose presence lit up every room she entered. Known for her sweet nature, quick wit, and boundless curiosity, Addilynn was a sixth-grade student at Myrtle Attendance Center. Teachers described her as a dedicated learner and a joy to have in class—always eager to help her classmates and participate in school events.

“She had a smile that could turn the worst day around,” said her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Tillman. “She was smart, funny, kind—and incredibly strong for someone so young.”

Outside of school, Addilynn loved spending time with her family, crafting, riding bikes, and caring for animals. She especially adored her younger siblings, whom she treated with endless patience and love. Whether she was playing softball on the weekends or baking cookies with her grandmother, Addi lived life with an enthusiasm that inspired everyone who knew her.

A Community in Mourning

As news of Addilynn’s tragic passing spread, the Myrtle community quickly mobilized to support the Robbins family. Local churches have begun organizing prayer vigils, and a GoFundMe page has been created to assist the family with funeral expenses and other unexpected costs.

Myrtle Attendance Center released a statement expressing their sorrow, noting that counselors would be available for students and staff in the days ahead:
“Addilynn was a beloved member of our school family. Her loss is deeply felt by all of us. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Robbins family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Friends and neighbors gathered at County Road 51 on Monday evening to leave flowers, teddy bears, and handwritten messages near the site of the crash. A memorial is being planned for later in the week, where friends, classmates, and loved ones will share memories and celebrate Addilynn’s life.

Remembering Addilynn

The loss of Addilynn Robbins is one that resonates far beyond her family and friends. Her story has touched the hearts of people throughout Union County and across Mississippi. She was a reminder of the beauty of childhood—its light, its laughter, and its limitless potential.

“We keep expecting to hear her laughter echo through the house,” said her mother tearfully. “Our world will never be the same without her.”

In times like these, the fragility of life is made heartbreakingly clear. The community of Myrtle clings to one another in grief but also in love, holding close the memory of a little girl who brought so much joy to so many lives.

A Call for Compassion and Caution

As investigators continue to examine the cause of the crash, officials are urging drivers to remain vigilant, especially on rural roads that often lack lighting and clear signage. Addilynn’s death, while tragic, serves as a poignant reminder of how quickly life can change—and how important it is to prioritize safety at all times.

Rest in peace, sweet Addilynn Robbins. Your light will never fade from the hearts of those who love you.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
