The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) and the close-knit community of Seven Hills, Ohio, are united in profound grief following the heartbreaking loss of Breanna Marguerite Sprenger. Affectionately known to many as simply “Bre,” she passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her radiant spirit and the immense impact she made will continue to shine in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Bre was more than a beloved member of her community—she was a beacon of inspiration, strength, and unrelenting advocacy. Born with a disability, Bre never let her physical challenges define her or limit her ambitions. Instead, she used her lived experience as a platform for empowerment, becoming a tireless voice for others in the disability community.
As a Good Life Ambassador with Cuyahoga DD, Bre poured her heart and soul into her work. She delivered hundreds of presentations across the region—speaking at schools, community centers, professional gatherings, and statewide conferences. Her audiences ranged from young children to senior citizens, and her message was always clear, personal, and profoundly moving. With authenticity and humor, Bre shared what it meant to live a full, dignified life with a disability, challenging stereotypes and opening minds wherever she went.
Bre had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it was a shy teenager unsure of how to approach someone different from themselves, a policymaker making decisions about disability services, or a fellow person with a disability looking for hope—Bre’s warmth, honesty, and passion left a lasting impression. She made the world feel more inclusive, simply by being in it.
Beyond her advocacy, Bre was a cherished friend, daughter, and community member. She had an infectious laugh, a vibrant sense of humor, and a deep love for those around her. Her zest for life, even in the face of obstacles, was both humbling and awe-inspiring. She was the type of person who remembered your birthday, who asked how you were doing—and really meant it—and who always saw the good in people, even on their worst days.
To her colleagues at Cuyahoga DD, Bre was not just a team member; she was family. Her dedication to creating a world where people with disabilities are respected, included, and celebrated knew no bounds. Her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched, the barriers she broke down, and the love she gave so freely.
Breanna Marguerite Sprenger’s passing is an immeasurable loss—but her life was an immeasurable gift. As we mourn her absence, we also celebrate the powerful mark she left on our hearts and in our communities.
In the days and weeks to come, the community of Seven Hills and the greater Cuyahoga County will come together to honor her memory—through storytelling, through continued advocacy, and through a collective commitment to the values Bre lived every day: compassion, inclusion, and courage.
Rest in power, Bre. You made the world brighter. You made us better.
