In Loving Memory of Larry Kent Larsen

Spread the News with People

Larry Kent Larsen, age 74, of Peabody, passed away on May 6, 2025, after a valiant two-day battle following a tragic accident. His sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the greater Peabody community. Though his time was unexpectedly cut short, the impact of Larry’s life will continue to ripple through the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the love he so freely gave.

Born and raised with a heart full of generosity and a spirit of resilience, Larry was a man who truly never met a stranger. Whether you crossed paths with him at the grocery store, in the church pews, or during one of his famous front-porch chats, Larry welcomed everyone with a warm smile, a firm handshake, and often a good-humored story. His easygoing nature and deep sense of empathy made him a natural friend to all and a trusted confidant to many.

Larry’s journey through life was rich with devotion to family, community, and faith. He shared over five decades of unwavering love and partnership with his beloved wife, Karen, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they built a home that was always open to friends, neighbors, and especially their growing family. Larry was the proud father of children who adored him and the doting grandfather to a new generation that will grow up hearing stories of his kindness, strength, and joy for life.

His legacy is reflected in the lessons he taught—through example more than words—about integrity, hard work, patience, and the importance of helping others. Larry believed in doing the right thing, even when no one was watching. He took great pride in the simplest of acts: fixing a neighbor’s fence, offering a ride to someone in need, or quietly leaving a sack of groceries on a doorstep during hard times.

Larry also had a deep and abiding faith, and the Peabody United Methodist Church was more than a place of worship for him—it was a second home. He could be found there on Sunday mornings, singing hymns, greeting newcomers, and volunteering for whatever was needed, always with humility and a servant’s heart.

Services to honor and celebrate Larry’s life will be held at the Peabody United Methodist Church, a place where he found strength and joy, surrounded by the community he loved so dearly. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather in the church basement for a time of fellowship, food, and shared memories—just the way Larry would have wanted: with laughter, love, and maybe even a few stories that will live on for generations.

Larry Kent Larsen will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for the lives he enriched. He leaves behind a loving wife, devoted children, cherished grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends who were more like family. His legacy is one of compassion, humility, and a deep, abiding love for people.

As we say goodbye to Larry, we do so with heavy hearts, but also with gratitude. We were blessed to have known him, and his memory will continue to guide and inspire us.

Rest in peace, Larry. You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
