The Aisling Irish Community Center is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Carpenter, a cherished member of our Irish-American community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Michael passed away on May 10, 2025, at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, craftsmanship, and love for his family.
Born on June 20, 1965, in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland, Michael was the beloved son of Albert and Teresa Carpenter. He carried with him the warmth and spirit of his Irish roots throughout his life, even after moving across the Atlantic. In 1989, Michael emigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and a brighter future. He began his American journey in the vibrant Irish community of Bainbridge Avenue in the Bronx, before settling in Yonkers and eventually making his home in Pearl River, New York, where he spent the past 18 years building a life grounded in family, friendship, and community.
A gifted and hardworking craftsman, Michael was the proud owner and operator of MC Flooring in Pearl River. His keen eye for detail and passion for his trade earned him the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. Through his work, he left a lasting imprint on countless homes and businesses—his craft speaking volumes about his dedication and integrity.
Beyond his career, Michael found a deep sense of freedom and brotherhood as a member of the Celtic Motorcycle Club. Whether riding through the scenic roads or gathering with fellow bikers, he embraced the camaraderie and adventure that came with being part of that special community. His love for motorcycles was more than a hobby; it was a celebration of life, freedom, and connection.
But above all, Michael was a devoted family man. He found his greatest joy in the love he shared with his family, especially his children. He was a loving father whose world revolved around Calum and Eden—his pride and joy. Whether it was traveling together or spending quiet moments at home, Michael treasured every second he had with them, creating memories that they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Michael is survived by Elaine Carpenter and their two beloved children, Calum and Eden. His love and presence will forever be felt in their hearts. He is also mourned by his sister, Orla Burke, her husband Ronan, and their extended family of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends both in the United States and Ireland.
To honor Michael’s life, visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret R.C. Church in Pearl River, New York. Michael will then be laid to rest at Dardistown Cemetery in Dublin, Ireland—a poignant return to his homeland.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, an organization close to the hearts of many Irish families abroad.
Michael Carpenter’s life was one of love, resilience, and craftsmanship. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
