It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we share the unexpected passing of Patricia “Patty” Engebretson on April 14th, 2025. A beloved mother, friend, and vibrant member of the Crosby, Minnesota community, Patty left this world too soon, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and warmth.
Born and raised with a heart full of compassion and a zest for life, Patty was known to all for her gentle spirit, her easy laughter, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She built a life rooted in love and selflessness, always prioritizing the needs of others before her own. Whether she was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, or simply lighting up a room with her presence, Patty had a rare ability to make everyone around her feel seen, valued, and loved.
Patty’s greatest pride and joy were her two children, McKenzie and Austin, who carry forward her strength, her sense of humor, and her deep love for family. In this season of profound loss, they are also preparing for a time of renewal and hope — the upcoming arrival of a new addition to their family. Navigating both grief and the anticipation of new life is a complex and emotional journey, one they are embracing with courage and grace, just as their mother would have done.
To honor Patty’s memory and celebrate the extraordinary person she was, a memorial service will be held on June 21st, 2025, at the Heartwood Senior Living Event Space. This gathering will be a chance for family, friends, and community members to come together, reflect, and share in the stories, laughter, and love that Patty so freely gave during her life.
McKenzie and Austin are working hard to organize a meaningful and heartfelt service that truly reflects the beauty of their mother’s spirit. In doing so, they are reaching out for support to help cover the expenses associated with the memorial. Every bit of support allows them to focus on what matters most: remembering Patty with love, celebrating her life, and holding space for healing.
