Colleen Cleaver was a bright light within the halls of Longview High School. Known for her infectious smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness, she touched the lives of classmates, teachers, and staff alike. Her sudden departure has left a void that words can scarcely begin to fill, and the entire school community is mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon.

As a student, Colleen excelled academically and stood out for her creativity, curiosity, and strong sense of purpose. She was a dedicated learner with a passion for literature and the arts, often seen with a book in her hands or sketching in her notebook. Her talents extended beyond the classroom—she was actively involved in school clubs, volunteer activities, and often took part in community service initiatives. Her empathy and compassion inspired those around her, and she consistently sought to lift others up, offering a kind word or gesture to anyone in need.

Colleen’s teachers describe her as thoughtful, hardworking, and immensely respectful. She had a maturity beyond her years, and a quiet strength that made her a role model among her peers. Her classmates remember her as someone who always listened, never judged, and always had time for a friend. Whether offering a laugh on a difficult day or simply sharing her presence with grace and humility, Colleen was a shining example of the values Longview ISD holds dear.

Outside of school, Colleen was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. She was known for her love of music, her deep appreciation for nature, and her dream of one day becoming a writer or teacher. Her family describes her as their “heart and soul,” a daughter who brought joy into every room she entered and left lasting impressions on everyone she met.

In this time of deep grief, Longview ISD offers its heartfelt condolences to the Cleaver family. Our hearts go out to her parents, siblings, extended family, and friends, as they navigate the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one so young and full of promise. We stand with them in mourning and offer our love, support, and prayers.

To support our students and staff during this time of loss, the district has arranged for grief counselors and mental health professionals to be available on campus in the coming days. We encourage any student or staff member who needs to talk or seek comfort to reach out.

We will find ways in the days ahead to honor Colleen’s memory and celebrate her life—a life that, although brief, made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and compassion will remain etched in our hearts forever.

May Colleen Cleaver rest in eternal peace, and may we all strive to carry forward the light she so effortlessly brought into the world.
