Eddie C. Willingham and Allah Lawrence ...

The unsolved double homicide of Eddie C. Willingham and Allah Lawrence in Belle Glade, Florida, remains a poignant reminder of the challenges facing communities grappling with violence and the pursuit of justice. On the evening of October 25, 2023, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) responded to a call at 27 Canal Street, where they discovered two men deceased from gunshot wounds. Despite extensive investigations, the case remains unsolved, leaving the community seeking answers.(WPBF, WPEC)

Victims and Community Impact

Eddie Willingham, 43, and Allah Lawrence, 36, were both known figures within the Belle Glade community. Their tragic deaths have left a lasting impact on their families and the local residents who knew them. Margaret Miller, a former educator in Belle Glade, expressed her grief, stating, “Allah Lawrence, I knew him real well. I had his sisters and stuff… Eddie? His birthday was yesterday and I know that family a long time.” She described Willingham as a quiet man who was close to his family. The two had spent Willingham’s 43rd birthday together before the fatal shooting occurred .

Investigation and Challenges

The PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division launched an investigation into the double homicide, but as of October 2024, no suspect or motive had been identified. Detectives have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to contact Detective Emily Vander-Laan at 561-688-4711 or to reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-458-TIPS .

In November 2023, PBSO reported that a video of the shooting was circulating within the community. Detectives have requested that the video be turned over to law enforcement as soon as possible. PBSO emphasized that submitting the video anonymously through Crime Stoppers or the ‘P3 Tips’ app could make individuals eligible for a $3,000 reward .

Community Response

The tragedy occurred just one day before a National Night Out event hosted by the PBSO in Belle Glade. This event, aimed at fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community, took place less than 24 hours after the fatal shooting. Community members, such as Margaret Miller, attended the event to show support and solidarity, underscoring the collective desire for justice and peace .

Call for Justice

As the investigation continues, the families of Eddie Willingham and Allah Lawrence, along with the Belle Glade community, await justice. The PBSO remains committed to solving the case and bringing those responsible to account. The public’s assistance remains crucial in providing the information needed to close this chapter and offer closure to the victims’ families.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Emily Vander-Laan at 561-688-4711 or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-458-TIPS. The pursuit of justice continues, with hope that the community’s collective efforts will lead to answers.
