Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered a male victim lying outside a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Ty’el Daveon Jones, a 25-year-old resident of Lawrenceville.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the incident began as a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. Following a swift investigation, law enforcement identified 54-year-old Tristan Gautier Bell, also of Lawrenceville, as a key individual involved in the incident. In the early morning hours of August 3, deputies executed a search warrant at Bell’s residence, where he was apprehended without incident.

Tristan Gautier Bell has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond at the Meherrin River Regional Jail. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation remains active, with additional charges anticipated as further evidence is analyzed and witness interviews are conducted.
