CAMBRIA, CA — The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has announced arrests in connection with a violent stabbing that occurred on the night of June 29, 2025, in Cambria, leaving two teenage boys injured. The suspects, identified as Miguel Angel Cervantes, 32, and Jose Munoz, 33, both of Delano, California, were taken into custody following a swift response by deputies and assistance from the California Highway Patrol.
Stabbing on Main Street
At approximately 9:06 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 2200 block of Main Street after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they found two juvenile males, ages 14 and 16, suffering from stab wounds. Deputies provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived.
Both boys were transported to a local hospital. One was discharged shortly afterward, while the second was later transferred to a specialized care facility for continued observation. Fortunately, both teens are expected to recover from their injuries.
Arrest of Suspects
Witnesses at the scene provided deputies with a description of the vehicle involved in the attack. Shortly thereafter, officers with the California Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle on Highway 46 near Hidden Valley Road in Templeton. The vehicle was stopped without incident, and both Miguel Cervantes and Jose Munoz were detained at the scene.
Following the investigation, it was determined that a knife had been used in the assault. Authorities do not believe there was any prior connection between the suspects and the victims, suggesting that the encounter was random or unprovoked.
- Miguel Angel Cervantes has been arrested for PC 245(a)(1) – assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
- Jose Munoz has been arrested for PC 32 – accessory to a felony.
Both men are currently in custody as the investigation continues.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has stated that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no continued threat to the public at this time. The case is actively being investigated by the Sheriff’s Detective Division, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to come forward.
“Thanks to the quick response from deputies and assistance from our partners at CHP, both suspects were apprehended swiftly and without further incident,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a public release.
