Motorcyclist Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash on Airport Road in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A tragic crash in the early hours of Sunday morning has left one man dead and two others seriously injured following a collision at the intersection of Airport Road and Duval Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred at approximately 2:04 a.m. when a 29-year-old man, riding a red Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Airport Road, collided with a silver Buick Enclave that was attempting to make a left turn from the westbound lane of Airport Road onto Duval Road.

FHP reports indicate that the Buick turned left into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a devastating impact within the intersection. All three individuals involved — the motorcyclist, and both the driver and passenger of the Buick — were transported to UF Health Jacksonville for emergency treatment.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not yet been publicly released, was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to authorities, he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash — a factor that may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Buick Enclave sustained serious injuries and remain hospitalized.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges have been announced at this time, and it remains unclear whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the collision.

This devastating accident serves as a solemn reminder of the vulnerability of motorcyclists on the road and the importance of cautious, defensive driving by all motorists. Our thoughts are with the families affected by this tragedy as they navigate an incredibly difficult time.
