Perry Woman Arrested for Alleged Ongoing Harassment of Neighbors
Perry, Iowa – A 48-year-old Perry woman, identified as Brandy Dawn Johnson, was arrested Monday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a string of alleged harassment incidents involving her neighbors. Johnson, who resides at 809 10th Street in Perry, now faces three counts of third-degree harassment, following multiple complaints and mounting evidence provided by the alleged victim.
Pattern of Alleged Harassment
The harassment complaints stem from a series of ongoing disturbances reported by Johnson’s neighbors. According to court records, Johnson was officially served a trespass notice on June 14 by an officer with the Perry Police Department. The notice explicitly instructed Johnson not to enter the neighbors’ property and to cease all communication with them. This action came after repeated complaints that Johnson allegedly shouted at the neighbor while she was outside in her backyard.
However, despite the formal warning, the alleged behavior reportedly continued.
On June 21, just one week after the trespass notice was issued, the same neighbor contacted law enforcement again. According to court filings, Johnson allegedly “continued to yell insulting things at her”—this time while the neighbor was in her swimming pool. To support her claims, the victim provided cell phone video evidence purportedly capturing Johnson’s conduct during the incident.
Based on the new report and accompanying video, investigators obtained a warrant for Johnson’s arrest, which was executed on Monday, June 24.
Legal Proceedings and Past Convictions
Johnson was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail, where she awaits further court action. Her bond has been set at $1,000, which may be posted in cash or surety. She is scheduled for a pretrial conference on July 22 in Dallas County District Court.
Court records also show that Johnson has a prior criminal conviction: in 2010, she was found guilty of fighting in public in Scott County District Court. Though the prior charge is unrelated, it may become part of the conversation as this current case progresses through the legal system.
It’s important to note that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and Brandy Dawn Johnson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Neighborhood Tensions and Community Impact
The situation has raised concerns in the Perry community, particularly among residents who value peace and mutual respect among neighbors. Cases of neighbor-on-neighbor harassment, while not uncommon, often require a delicate legal balance between civil disputes and criminal conduct.
“This kind of behavior, if true, is disruptive and harmful—not just to the direct victim but to the entire neighborhood,” said a Perry resident who requested to remain anonymous. “People should feel safe and respected on their own property.”
The Perry Police Department has not released additional details regarding the broader neighborhood dynamics or whether other residents have come forward with similar complaints. Still, the department emphasized its commitment to handling harassment cases seriously and ensuring the safety and well-being of all community members.
Next Steps:
- Arraignment and pretrial conference set for July 22, 2025
- Johnson remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail
- Investigation continues as the court prepares for proceedings
As more details emerge, the case will be closely watched by both legal observers and residents alike, who are hoping for a resolution that restores peace and sets clear boundaries regarding acceptable conduct in shared residential areas.
