Second Victim Identified in Arlington Double Homicide at QuikTrip

ARLINGTON, Texas — Authorities have released the name of the second victim in a tragic double homicide that unfolded Saturday night outside a QuikTrip gas station in Arlington. The violent confrontation, which occurred in the parking lot of the store located in the 5600 block of South Cooper Street, has left a community in mourning and raised troubling questions about youth violence and the circumstances that led to the deadly encounter.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the two young men who lost their lives in the incident. They have been identified as 20-year-old Omed Abdal and 19-year-old Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah, both of whom sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities say the two were found unresponsive on the scene when police arrived and were transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

A third individual, also 19 years old, was injured during the shooting. He sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and has since been treated and released from the hospital. His identity has not been disclosed by police.

The incident took place shortly after 10 p.m., during what law enforcement described as an altercation between two groups in the QuikTrip parking lot. According to witness statements gathered at the scene, the dispute escalated quickly. During the confrontation, one individual reportedly retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and began shooting.

The alleged shooter, 17-year-old Saman Islam, remained at the scene following the gunfire and was detained by police upon arrival. Islam was taken into custody and is now facing serious charges, including capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond for the capital murder charge, with an additional $100,000 bond for the aggravated assault charge.

Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed what may have sparked the altercation, and no information has been released regarding the relationship between the individuals involved. Arlington Police have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, as detectives continue to gather evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview witnesses who may have been present during the shooting.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the Arlington community, as the ages of those involved underscore the increasingly disturbing trend of gun violence among youth. With two lives lost and another irrevocably changed, the tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences that can arise from disputes that turn deadly.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist with the investigation to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Tarrant County Crime Stoppers.

As the community grapples with the loss, loved ones of the victims are left seeking answers—and justice—for the sudden and violent end to two young lives.
