Suspect Arrested After Fatal Shooting of 24-Year-Old Woman in Hesperia
HESPERIA, Calif. — A quiet neighborhood in San Bernardino County was shattered by gunfire in the early hours of June 23, 2025, when a young woman was found shot to death outside a home on Santa Fe Avenue in Hesperia. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a suspect, Jose Antonio Ramirez, 41, of Hesperia, has been arrested and charged in connection with the deadly shooting.
Just before 1 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of Santa Fe Avenue following reports of multiple shots fired. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered Jasmine Keohi, 24, lying unresponsive on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, Keohi was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooter had already fled the area by the time deputies arrived. During the course of the investigation, authorities identified Ramirez as the primary suspect. In addition to Keohi, Ramirez is also believed to have shot a second victim — an adult male whose identity has not yet been publicly released. The second victim’s condition has not been disclosed.
A SWAT team later located Ramirez at a nearby apartment complex in Hesperia. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains held on $1 million bail. Ramirez has been formally charged with murder, with additional charges potentially pending as the investigation progresses.
As of now, detectives have not released a motive for the shooting or details about the relationships between the suspect and the victims. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence, conduct interviews, and piece together the events that led to this tragic act of violence.
