Conroe, Texas – May 11, 2025 — A calm morning at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office took a dramatic and unsettling turn when an act of criminal mischief escalated into a serious incident involving an injury to a senior citizen. At approximately 11:00 a.m., the tranquility of the Sheriff’s Office at 1 Criminal Justice Drive in Conroe was shattered—literally—when a man hurled a large rock through the facility’s front glass doors, sending shards flying into the lobby and injuring an elderly woman.

According to preliminary reports, an unknown Black male approached the front entrance of the building and, without provocation, threw the rock with significant force. The glass shattered upon impact, and an elderly female—who had been seated in the lobby—was struck by debris. She sustained a laceration to her right leg and received medical attention on-site by staff. The suspect, showing no signs of remorse or urgency, casually returned to his vehicle and fled the scene.

The sudden act of violence triggered an immediate and coordinated response. Jail staff and patrol deputies swiftly converged on the lobby area to secure the scene and initiate a criminal investigation. Surveillance footage was quickly retrieved and reviewed. In a striking turn of events, Montgomery County Detention Officers were able to positively identify the suspect as 22-year-old Jordan Oneal, a known repeat offender who had only recently been released from the same facility on April 22, 2025.

Oneal’s criminal history and familiarity with the Sheriff’s Office made him a recognizable figure to detention staff, accelerating the investigative process. Utilizing the department’s Real Time Crime Center and working in coordination with detectives and crime scene investigators, law enforcement officials tracked Oneal’s whereabouts. A targeted operation was initiated, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team successfully located Oneal within the city limits of Conroe. He was taken into custody without incident.

Upon arrest, Oneal was charged with Felony Injury to the Elderly—a serious offense under Texas law—and Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief for the destruction of government property. In a moment of symbolic irony, he was returned to the Montgomery County Jail and escorted through the very door he had vandalized just hours earlier.

During questioning, Oneal offered a chillingly simplistic explanation for his actions. He reportedly told investigators he “woke up angry and was having a bad day.” While the motive may lack complexity, the consequences of his behavior are clear: an innocent woman was injured, county property was damaged, and public safety was compromised.
