Toledo Motorcyclist’s Life Cut Short in Tragic Waterville Crash Despite Helmet Use

WATERVILLE, OH — July 24, 2025 — A devastating crash late Thursday night at the intersection of Anthony Wayne Trail and Mechanic Street in Waterville has left the Toledo community mourning the loss of 41-year-old Zachary S. Lambert. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Toledo Post is actively investigating the fatal incident, which occurred at approximately 11:38 p.m.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Dustin L. Wyckoff of Haskins was driving a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck southwest on the Anthony Wayne Trail. At the same time, Zachary S. Lambert was traveling northeast on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, resulting in catastrophic consequences. Despite wearing a helmet, Lambert succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Wyckoff, who was wearing a safety belt, was not reported injured.

The collision prompted the closure of the Anthony Wayne Trail for approximately two hours as emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Waterville Police Department, Waterville Township Police Department, Waterville Fire & EMS, Whitehouse EMS, and the Lucas County Coroner’s Office in managing the response and initiating the investigation.
