Tragedy in Twin City: Domestic Dispute Ends in Murder-Suicide

Twin City, GA — June 14, 2025 — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Twin City on Saturday night, leaving a community reeling and children without both parents after a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal act of violence.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Twin City Police were dispatched to a residence following a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Zaria Carr unresponsive inside the home. Despite emergency efforts, she was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities quickly identified Zaria’s husband, 36-year-old Shamarcus Carr, as a person of interest. Shamarcus was notably absent from the home when officers arrived, prompting an immediate multi-agency search.

The investigation took a grim turn later that night when law enforcement located Shamarcus Carr in Wayne County, Georgia. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but before officers could make contact, Shamarcus reportedly took his own life by firearm while still inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the couple had been involved in a heated argument on a livestream just hours before the incident, and it is believed that this altercation may have directly preceded the fatal confrontation. While the full context of the livestream and events leading up to the tragedy are still under investigation, authorities suspect that Shamarcus shot and killed Zaria before fleeing and later dying by suicide.

This devastating event has left the Twin City and Wayne County communities in shock, with many turning their thoughts and prayers toward the couple’s children and extended family. The children, now orphaned, are being cared for by relatives as the family navigates this unimaginable loss.

“This is a tragic situation, and our hearts go out to the family, especially the children left behind,” a spokesperson for the Twin City Police Department said. “No one should ever have to witness this level of trauma. We are working to provide support and ensure that resources are available for those affected.”

Domestic violence continues to be a pervasive and complex issue that touches all communities, often with devastating consequences. Authorities are urging anyone in a toxic or abusive relationship to seek help immediately through available crisis centers, law enforcement, or confidential support lines.

As friends and loved ones mourn the loss of Zaria Carr, many have taken to social media to remember her for her warmth, strength, and the love she had for her children. Shamarcus Carr’s actions have left a trail of pain and unanswered questions, and the investigation remains active as police review digital evidence, including the livestream.

This tragedy underscores the importance of early intervention, community support, and mental health awareness. In this moment of sorrow, the hope remains that other lives might be saved by shining a light on the warning signs of domestic violence.
