Tragedy Strikes ExcellED Montessori Plus: 6-Year-Old Girl Dies After Medical Emergency

A 6-year-old girl tragically passed away on Friday morning, June 6, 2025, after experiencing a medical emergency at ExcellED Montessori Plus, a private school in Boerne, Texas. This marks the third major incident at the school in just seven months.

Incident Details

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the child was found unresponsive in a restroom around 10 a.m. by school staff. Emergency services were immediately called, and trained staff began performing CPR and life-saving measures while awaiting first responders. The girl was transported to University Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.   

Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that early indications suggest the medical episode was not the result of any wrongdoing or negligence on the part of the school or its staff. Investigators believe the child may have suffered from a chronic or pre-existing medical condition that contributed to the sudden health crisis.

School’s Response

In a statement released Friday, ExcellED Montessori Plus expressed its sorrow and extended condolences to the family:

“We are heartbroken by the passing of a child who was attending our summer program this week,” the statement read. “The child experienced a medical emergency in the classroom, and our trained staff responded immediately, administering CPR and emergency care until first responders arrived. Despite all efforts, the child sadly did not survive.”

The school acknowledged that the child had a known medical condition and confirmed it is cooperating fully with the investigation. Grief counseling has been made available for staff and students.

Previous Incidents

This tragic event follows a previous deadly incident at the same school in December 2024, when a vehicle crash in the school parking lot killed teacher Alexia Rosales, 22, and 1-year-old Mkaya Amrani. That incident occurred after a parent accidentally accelerated and crashed into a playground, injuring several others. Both cases remain under investigation.
