Spread the News with People

A late-night drive-by shooting outside a nightclub in southeast Houston on Sunday, July 13, 2025, has left two people dead and seven others injured, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 11:47 p.m. in the parking lot of Bug’s Nightclub, located in the 6500 block of Dixie Drive near Heffernan Street. Assistant Police Chief Adrian Rodriguez reported that multiple rounds were fired from a gray or silver four-door sedan into a crowd of people gathered outside the venue, waiting to enter. The vehicle then fled the scene, heading down Dixie Drive.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second victim succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. The identities of the deceased have not been publicly released, and no information has been confirmed regarding claims that one victim was the club’s owner or a well-known local barber. Authorities have also not confirmed the specific ages or genders of the victims, though they noted that the victims’ ages vary, and one may be a juvenile.

Of the seven injured, some were transported to local hospitals by private vehicles, while others were treated at the scene or taken to hospitals by EMS. All injured victims are reported to be in stable condition as of Monday, July 14, 2025.

The Houston Police Department has not yet determined a motive for the attack, and the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. Detectives are actively reviewing surveillance footage and plan to interview victims as their medical conditions permit.

“This was a senseless act of violence that affected innocent lives,” said Assistant Chief Rodriguez. “We are committed to finding those responsible and bringing justice to the victims and their families.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477 (TIPS).
